I am the Chief Technology Officer & Head of Interactive at PENN Entertainment. As CTO, I am responsible for company-wide technology vision and operations. As Head of Interactive, I lead our online businesses, including theScore, theScore Bet, and Hollywood Casino, across digital media, online sports betting, and iCasino.
I began my career at Starwave, the pioneering software company founded by Paul Allen and responsible for building ESPN’s earliest digital products. As part of that team, I helped build the first version of ESPN.com and some of the earliest products in online video, fantasy sports, and real-time play-by-play, including GameCast. Starwave was ultimately acquired by Disney, and our team became part of ESPN.
I later left ESPN to co-found Fanzter, a venture-funded consumer and mobile software company, where I served as CEO until it was acquired by Disney. I returned to ESPN to lead technology and product development and later became the company’s second Chief Technology Officer.
I spent more than 20 years at Disney, most recently as President and Chief Technology Officer of Disney Entertainment and ESPN, where I led a global team of thousands responsible for more than 90 digital products, including Disney+, ESPN+, and Hulu. Those products reach hundreds of millions of people, but the best part was the people I had the privilege of building them with.
I’m an engineer by training, with a degree in electrical and computer engineering from the University of South Carolina. I’m happiest building things, whether it’s a product, a team, or a new company. I’m a native of Charleston, South Carolina, and a proud Gamecock.
